A recent case
Further interesting cases will be added at regular intervals.

“DJ” is a 2½ year old Weimaraner, who came to the Mott Clinic with this acute onset, painful face – one can see the look of pain in his eyes, I think! It proved to be a problem called “idiopathic eosinophilic facial furunculosis” – following the medical rule that the less we know of a problem, the longer the name.

The cause is unknown, but may be due to a bite from some insect. It is often impossible to know, and as James Heriot remarked – “If only they could talk!” Fortunately, once diagnosed the treatment is fairly straightforward, and the second picture shows DJ 17 days after the problem first occurred. I am told that he is now fully recovered.
